A Little Bit About Me
I've always been a writer. A performer, too. In third grade, I wrote and directed a play, just for fun. I never stopped writing, but I did find a major distraction.

I started playing the violin at age 10. I loved it, even though that was an exceedingly unpopular thing to do! I got serious about singing a couple of years later.

Music consumed me for the next several years, and I started college as a vocal performance major. Before long, reality set in and I realized I didn't want the kind of life that would allow me to pursue that dream. I wanted stability and a regular paycheck. "What else do I want to do?" I asked myself. Of course, the answer was, "Write."
As much as I wanted to write fiction, again, I wanted more stability than is realistic for an author, so I found a practical way to do what I loved: television news. It combined writing with performing - what could be better? Thus, I earned a degree in Journalism & Communications.
I spent a decade as a traditional journalist, primarily a TV news producer, before throwing that much-sought stability to the wind. I had two young children at that point, and frelancing from home, on a flexible schedule, just worked better. It also gave me time to write more fiction. I got a couple of short works published and told myself, "Once my kids are both in school, I'll finally have time to write a book."

Through the Veil is that book. Getting it finished and published is the fulfillment of a life-long dream, but also a wonderful beginning - more than ever, I'm in love with the process of writing. More books have followed, and many more are waiting to come out of my brain.

Okay, now for the typical author-bio bit that you probably came here for:
I was born in Pocatello, Idaho way back in 1970. Other than a two-year stint in Missouri, where I attended Cottey College, I've spent my entire life in the Pacific Northwest. I got my degree from the University of Oregon.

I now live in Washington state. I've got two adult children who are a lot of fun to hang out with and two cats—a feisty tuxedo named Jarvis, and a sweet orange tabby named Edwin. (Yes, they're both named after Tony Stark's childhood butler.)

I dabble in several genres: superhero, urban fantasy, horror, and traditional fantasy. In film, I tend to write a lot of comedy and horror-comedy, and I've delved into drama and surrealism, as well. Basically, I just like telling stories.

I don't think I could go through life without writing. I've written in just about every format you can think of: TV news, newspaper, magazine, radio, medical articles, blogs, screenplays, teleplays, stage plays, poetry, book trailers, short stories, and novels. I call it writer bingo! (Ironically, as a writer and musician, I've never been able to write a decent song. Oh, well.)

Other than that, let's see... I'm a huge geek. I drink a lot of tea. I change my hair color frequently. That's pretty much it.
